AN Indian restaurant in Colchester has been awarded a certificate after it raised hundreds of pounds for a charitable organisation.

Rim Jhim Spice restaurant in Stanway has received a Colchester Rotary Club certificate of Achievement for its “hard work and fantastic support” in raising more than £400 in the Rotary Easter Raffle project, which raised a total of £3,700.

Rotary Club president Peter Rutland thanked the Rim Jhim team for its commitment to the local community and said the money will go to the Rotary Club Youth and Wellbeing Fund to help young people in the local area who are facing hardship.

Nigel Hildreth, former Rotary Club President, meanwhile, said: “The restaurant embraced the challenge and sold the raffle squares not once but twice making their £400 the most significant contribution of an Easter Egg Host.

“All the staff were involved in this wonderful gesture.”

Members of the Rotary Club of Colchester have said they would like to thank all venues and members of the public who helped to raise money for the cause.
