It's by no means recent, but Colchester's impressive scene for music, arts, and culture continues to grow.

I've showcased thousands of events through the Keep Colchester Cool project I launched in 2009.

Now, I'll bring the best events to you each week which I recommend checking out.

Here are my five recommendations for music, arts, and culture in Colchester in the week ahead.

Our House has rightfully found a new home for its long-awaited comeback.

Taking place at Roberts Bar & Club on Saturday you'll find the same vibes and production Kirtsy and Jon's house music events are renowned for.

DJs include GBJ; I Sit Glitter, Dave S, Robbie P, Peter Johnson, Jim Ward and Richard Law.

The event starts 8pm and tickets are £5 in advance or £7 on the door.

A full house of another kind takes place on Sunday when bingo and rock n' roll collide.

Other Monkey Brewing - The Tap Room hosts an evening of Rock 'n' Roll Bingo. They play the song, and you cross it out. Compete for a chance to win some Other Monkey Brewing beer and prizes.

Starts 7pm and entrance is free.

Catch Weird Creature at Queen St Brewhouse on Thursday with a live set exploring the darker side of 50s Americana, b-movie horror film blues and early rock 'n' roll. Support comes via Jack Walsh.

The evening starts 8pma and entrance is free, although donations are welcome.

Midsummer opens at the Mercury Theatre on Friday.

The story's starting point is a meeting on Midsummer Eve in a wine bar between two lonely 35-year-olds in need of solace.

What unfolds is a funny, heart-warming, feel-good romantic musical comedy. Expect a fast-paced look at love, life, and the ache of ageing.

Start times vary and tickets start from £15.

Ady Johnson is undoubtedly one of Colchester's finest singer-songwriters.

With each gig he's recently played, we've had teases of tracks from his third album, so this will be a great show at the Headgate Theatre on Friday when Ady will be joined by the upcoming Gasoline Green and Annie Maguire.

Doors open at 7.45pm and tickets cost £9.
