Stevi Ritchie to battle Sam Ryder for Christmas number 1

Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder will be taking on Colchester X Factor star Stevi Ritchie for the coveted top spot. 

And the pair will have tough competition from classic tunes which regularly return to the charts over the festive season. 

Stevi dropped his new song, It's Magic At Christmas, to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. 

While Sam is hoping to claim the Number 1 with You’re Christmas To Me. 

With help from Mark Boardman, Stevi was able to write this song is about togetherness and family during the festive season.

He said: "This song is about bringing people together who are lonely at Christmas.

"It's about seeing your friends and loved ones, hugging them and kissing them.

"Let's be honest we all spend some time alone, this year I'm going to be alone in Yorkshire.

"It's a song we needed this year."

And Stevi isn't fazed about going head to head with chart topper Sam. 

He said: "I have never met Sam Ryder but I must commend him for what he has done.

"What a voice, I mean he has a far better voice than me and has great range.

"If there is a battle for Number 1, do I think I'll beat him? I don't know.

"We will see and I wish him all the best. Game on!"

All the money made from sales of Stevi's song will be sent to Great Ormond Street Hospital to help the healthcare centre in making Christmas magical for seriously ill children.

He said: "Great Ormond Street Hospital is so close to people's hearts and we want to try and give the kids a good Christmas.

"All the money goes towards them, we just thought [the hospital] has got to be the one."
